The Halloween season is by far one of the favorites for the little tikes. They get to run around in costumes, get bunches of candy and play! What could be better for a preschooler, really? Besides or along with trick-or-treating, there are a bunch of other things you can do as preschool Halloween activities.
Walk on the Witch is a game similar to musical chairs. Draw a witch's hat on a huge and flat paper bag. Tape this on the floor before you begin. Let the kids know this is just like musical chairs, except you're using the hat. Have one child be a No Peeking Wizard. He will be in charge of when the music plays and stops and makes sure no one opens their eyes. If any of the others peek, they are out of the game. Have all the kids close their eyes and walk back and forth across the hat on the floor until the music stops. Whoever lands on the hat is out of the game.
Balloon Ghost is made with balloons and plastic grocery bags. Cut the handles and any color from the bag. Leave cut the cord intact while cutting the bags into strips. With the white balloon blew up, tape the plastic bag tied to the end. Draw some eyes and mouth on the balloon with a black marker.
Harry Potter Word Search will warm the hearts of the young magician and small humps. You can create your own puzzles in the creation of many websites.
Jack-o-lanterns can be created construction paper, colored or printed with.
egg carton bats can flythe room. Separate three cups from the egg carton. Cut out part of the bottoms of two of them for the wings. Draw eyes and a mouth and decorate at your pleasure.
Halloween Candy Sort is a terrific little mathematical activity for the preschoolers. After they've eaten all their candy, have them bring the empty wrappers in. Sort them all out on a table into categories (chocolate, lollipop, tootsie roll, etc.) Come up with different ways to record them using graphs, classifications, etc.
A Lollipop Mummy is created by taping a lollipop onto a color plastic spoon. Tape a one-inch strip of fabric to the bottom of the handle and twist it around the spoon until you reach the top. Tuck, glue or tape the end. Part the fabric and glue on eyes.
The Halloween Grand Prize Game is played by tossing orange ping-pong balls into jack-o-lantern buckets for a prize.
Do Pumpkins Float? Have the kids tape or glue a pumpkin at the top of a picture of a bowl if yes, the bottom if no. Then demonstrate for them.
Halloween Memory Game is played by taking theme items like candy corn, apples, spiders, bats, etc. and placing them on a tray. Let the kids have a look. Then hide them and see how much they remember.
These will get you started as you await nightfall for that trick-or-treating!
